Freelance Bid/Tender Writers

Job description

Established in 2006, Intend provides professional business development advice and training. We specialise in helping our clients submit winning bids for public sector and commercial contracts and wish to expand the Intend team of freelance bid/tender writers to meet growing demand for our services.

Our support includes bid management, tender/proposal writing and review, setting up tender desks/libraries, preparing for tender interviews and practical training in all aspects of the procurement process. Intend works at local, regional, national and international levels and our clients come from a wide range of business sectors.

Key responsibilities

Support clients with various aspects of the tendering process which include:

  • Bid/tender analysis and creation of completion plan
  • Bid/tender writing
  • Review and editing client’s tender content
  • Assist with supporting documents (eg. company policies, CV formatting, project case studies)
  • Advise on using tender portals, in particular Public Contracts Scotland, PCS Tender and key UK portals
  • Create tender library content

Understanding the barriers faced by businesses when bidding for public or supply chain contracts is an essential part of Intend’s role so we require our team to offer hands-on tendering help and not just general advice. You will work independently but with the support of a senior member of the Intend team. Work will be face-to-face (for clients in Scotland) and also via Teams/Zoom for UK or international clients.

Required Knowledge/Experience

Minimum 3 years’ experience bid/tender writing

  • Good working knowledge of UK/Scottish procurement procedures and portals
  • Evidence of excellent writing skills for tenders and funding proposals across a range of subject areas
  • Ability to communicate effectively across diverse business/market sectors and companies of all sizes
  • Attention to detail – able to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines

Position details

Location: Combination of work from your home location, Intend’s Stirling office and at client locations across Scotland.

Job type: freelance position, hours will vary depending on demand/match to your skills, may require some work in evenings or weekends
