Tender Post-mortem

Itโ€™s good business practice to seek a debrief for every tender you complete no matter what the outcome. Ideally aim to carry it out as soon as you can while all the details can be more easily recalled. For public sector tenders, bidders have a right to feedback on their unsuccessful (and successful) submissions.

An in-house tender post-mortem should also be seen as a constructive process with a chance to both build and improve your future submissions. Involve all the people who contributed to the tender. Whether you construct a questionnaire, liaise directly with individual staff or hold a team meeting there are lots of points to be considered.

Plan ahead to keep things relaxed and encourage everyone to participate. Consider what impact your tender made, what worked well, what didnโ€™t really work, what systems should be changed and how it can be made easier. Construct a clear list of actions and follow them through and next time things should be much smoother. Our tender review section explains the full service we can offer to help identify and implement those winning improvements.
